Dr Ângela Simões
BREAKING NEWS We are announcing from today onwards this week the recipients of the Sigma European Recognition of Nursing & Midwifery Excellence 2023. Congratulations to Dr Ângela Simões on recieving the recognition for excellence in Clinical Practice 2023.
We will be celebrating this achievement online on 20th September during lunchtime. More info to follow.
Ângela Simões, a nurse since 1998, specialist nurse since 2008 and manager nurse since 2022.
"'Throughout my 25 years in the profession, I have always tried to remain rooted in the profound and unique knowledge of nursing, such as that of Virginia Henderson, Joyce Travelbee and Paterson & Zderad, maintaining an articulated look between scientific knowledge and the lived experiences of People that I care for and myself. I soon realized that the success of my interventions largely depends on the existential encounter and the compassionate connection I manage to create with my patient, family, community and other team members. I realized that being a Nurse is above all being present, through full attention and deep respect.
Working directly with so many patients at the end of life made me continue my training in Palliative Care. I did several clinical placements and courses in Portugal and abroad, including a master's degree at the University of Salamanca, Spain, and clinical placements at St. Christopher's Hospice in London, UK. Palliative care has become my specialty and I am considered an expert by the Portuguese College of Nurse."
