Welcome to the Sigma European communications committee webpage, this page serves as a vital component responsible for managing the European regionals internal communications & strategies. The primary role of this committee is to ensure effective communication channels between members of the society, the leadership, and external stakeholders. Here's a breakdown of their key responsibilities:
Internal Communication: The committee facilitates communication among society members. This includes disseminating important information via quarterly newsletter, event flyering for both regional and chapter events.
External Communication: The committee manages communication with external stakeholders such as partner organizations, sponsors and the media. We look after the European regional press releases, social media accounts, website content, and other channels to promote the society's activities, achievements, and initiatives to a wider audience.
Brand Management: The communications committee plays a key role in shaping and maintaining the society's brand image and identity. They ensure consistency in messaging, visual elements, and tone across all communication materials to reinforce the society's values and mission.
Feedback Mechanism: The committee serves as a feedback mechanism by gathering input from society members and external stakeholders regarding communication strategies, messaging effectiveness, and areas for improvement. They may conduct surveys, focus groups, or feedback sessions to assess communication needs and preferences.
Collaboration: The communications committee collaborates with other committees or departments within the society to align communication efforts with overall organizational goals and objectives. This includes coordinating promotional campaigns, event marketing, and other collaborative initiatives. Overall, the communications committee plays a crucial role in fostering transparency, engagement, and effective communication within the society while also projecting a positive image to external audiences.
The Communications Committee has conducted research on social media usage of nurses across Europe in 2023.
This is a descriptive-cross sectional study, and we plan to disseminate an on-line questionnaire to all the nurses who are members of Chapters in the European Region of Sigma Theta Tau organization.
Nurses who are not members of Sigma may also complete the questionnaire.
The questionnaire consists of the following sections:
a) socio-demographic and professional characteristics, b) social media use, c) patterns of learning and d) patterns of networking using social networks. Qualitative information will be collected using two open-ended questions.
Ethical approval has been granted by the Ashkelon Academic College, Israel.
The communications committee is at present analyzing the findings. More information to follow in March 2024.
We hope that this study will contribute to the body of knowledge about nurses’ use of social media and the most effective platforms to access nurses.
