The Communications Committee is launching research on social media usage of nurses across Europe.

This is a descriptive-cross sectional study, and we plan to disseminate an on-line questionnaire to all the nurses who are members of Chapters in the European Region of Sigma Theta Tau organization.
Nurses who are not members of Sigma may also complete the questionnaire.
The questionnaire consists of the following sections:
a) socio-demographic and professional characteristics, b) social media use, c) patterns of learning and d) patterns of networking using social networks. Qualitative information will be collected using two open-ended questions.
Ethical approval has been granted by the Ashkelon Academic College, Israel.

We hope that this study will contribute to the body of knowledge about nurses’ use of social media and the most effective platforms to access nurses.

Our communications committee publishes a Sigma European Regional Newsletter four times a year.
